We all expect candy bars, cookies, chips, sodas, fast foods & "JUNK" to be filled with, well....JUNK!
However, can someone explain why they put crap in the healthy stuff?
Although I formulate supplements, I also have companies send me supplements to test, as well as purchase supplements from stores.
I recently purchased this Vitamin C to try out. This morning I made a mono smoothie (Simple Smoothie) & the ONLY supplement I added to it was a TBSP of the Vitamin C.
I noticed that almost immediately my throat being filled with mucus & belly bloat feeling. I rushed to look at the container, thinking that whey protein would be the culprit.
I couldn't freakin' believe my eyes: MALTODEXTRIN.
In case you didn't know, maltodextrin is worse than sugar.
I first learned of Maltodextrin over a decade ago. The 1st time I tried to "give up sugar' I would eat lots of sugar-free, gluten-free, low-calorie/ reduced sugar junkfoods and ALL of them have Maltodextrin in it. I noticed how it made my stomach hurt with cramps & the above symptoms with even the 1st bite/sip.
What is Maltodextrin & what's wrong with it?
It is a highly processed food/drink/supplement additive.
Glycemic Index of sugar: 65
Glycemic Index of maltodextrin: 135
Studies using laboratory mice found that sugary maltodextrin promoted the growth of unhealthy bacteria, which damaged the intestine and increased the risk of inflammatory disease, according to a review in the journal PLoS One.
The Point: Maltodextrin is NOT fit for animal or human consumption. The fact that food, drug, supplement & beverage industries use it WIDELY in their products is revolting.
Say NO TO MALTODEXTRIN!
Yes, I threw the whole thing in the trash...won't be the 1st time or the last.
