Did you know????
The avg women worries AT LEAST 14 hours/wk, which equates to 5.2 years of your life spent worrying!
- Remember when the best-selling book Listening to Prozac came out a little over 20 years ago? (Neither do I, but it did...but seriously...)
Now Americans aren’t just reading about Prozac. They are taking it and other antidepressants (Celexa, Effexor, Paxil, Zoloft, to name just a few) in astounding numbers.
According to a report released last year by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the rate of antidepressant use in this country among teens and adults (people ages 12 and older) increased by almost 400% between 1988–1994 and 2005–2008.
The federal government’s health statisticians figure that about one in every 10 Americans takes an antidepressant. And by their reckoning, antidepressants were the third most common prescription medication taken by Americans.
Here are a few other stand-out statistics from the report on antidepressants:
23% of women in their 40s and 50s take antidepressants, a higher percentage than any other group (by age or sex)
Women are 2½ times more likely to be taking an antidepressant than men (click here to read a May 2011 article in the Harvard Mental Health Letter about women and depression)
There are different ways in which worrying effects health, but what is a GOOD & SIMPLE Solution???
MEDITATION
Wait don't run away...yet at least. I am not talking about common meditation practices. I am not a fan of those, because it's hard for me to sit still & focus on my breathing. Which makes me de-motivated to even do it to begin with.
But there is a cool way to meditate. I call them 4-Minute MicroMeditations.
So before I tell you how to MicroMeditate, here is a list of common forms of meditating that I am not knocking at all...I am just saying that they were not my cup of tea. Here are some that you may have heard of or tried....
There are innumerable ways of meditating. Nowadays visualization of various lights and rays entering the seeker has become the most popular form of meditation.
Then there are various forms of Chakra and Kundalini meditation (which I am not a fan of at all). Then various intensity and mathematics of inhalation and exhalation of breath are used to meditate. Some meditation techniques take a minimum half an hour if not more. Then there is the regulation of timings and posture.
So what How Does Meditating help with worrying?
Long story short:
We have a conscious
We have a subconscious
We have a Superconcious
The Consious mind thinks in terms of past & future rather than the present.
The Subconsious mind stores all of your life experiences, your beliefs, your memories, your skills, all situations you've been through and all images you've ever seen.
The superconscious mind is the God Mind within each man, and is the realm of perfect ideas.
Superconsciousness can lead you to the center of your intuitive heart, teach you how to listen to the silent voice of your true soul...and help you achieve the highest, purest form of love as you meet-and embrace-your higher self.
How do you access this Superconscious mind
(THE HAPPY PLACE)?
Through MicroMeditions duh!
This article went longer than I anticipatied, so here is the bottom line. I am NOT going to share the exact formula of how I train clients to micromediate. If you want to learn that, you'll have to click the link in my bio and sign up for the entire Supercharge Your Superhuman 8-wk challenge. However, here is how you do a modified version of my MicroMeditations:
Step1: Set phone's timer to 4 minutes.(There is no specific time to 'schedule' them. However its best to do one in the morning, afternoon & evening.)
Step 2: Close your eyes & picture a yellow warm light surrounding & protecting you AKA God's presence.
Step3: (In your head) say Hi & ask if there is a message for you at that moment. Be quiet & listen.
That's it!
Sometimes I get a message to relax...sometimes a message of love...sometimes I just start feeling really loved, cherished, special & grateful.
NOTHING makes me feel as good as my microMeditations...not even prayer & I love prayer.
Ok your turn. Try it. Prove I'm cray cray or prove to yourself that sprinkling micoMeditations throughout your day causes you to worry LESS, feel GOOD & live FULLY.
Feel free to share what message came to you.
Peace out,
Joy
